St. Cloud Cares Utilities Assistance Program St. Cloud Utilities (SCU) in partnership with the Osceola Council on Aging (COA) has the St. Cloud Cares Program to provide financial assistance to St. Cloud utilities customers who are experiencing financial hardships. OSCEOLA COUNTY COVID-19 UTILITIES ASSISTANCE Applications for COVID-19 utilities assistance are available beginning October 5th, 2020 through Osceola County and the CARES Act. St. Cloud Utilities Maintenance Work May 17th - May 21st St. Cloud Utilities crews will be out in the field, working hard to ensure that everyone is receiving the best water quality possible. Our field crews will be performing maintenance on valves and flushing fire hydrants in the following areas: · Old Hickory · Southern Pines · Canoe Creek Woods If you live or work in these areas, you might experience temporary drops in pressure or water quality. Line Swabbing To augment and complement the Ice Pigging, the City will be conducting another water line cleaning process, Line Swabbing, along the water mains feeding the water lines through out the City. Line Swabbing requires the water line to be taken out of service during the cleaning process, therefore customers will experience a water supply outage. Due to the water line temporarily being out of service and in accordance with state guidelines, the City of St. Cloud Environmental Utilities Department is required to issue a "Precautionary Boil Water Notice" immediately following the Line Swabbing. The City of St. Cloud advises that all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. The "Precautionary Boil Water Notice" will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey is completed and we have received results confirming that the water is safe to drink in the areas that have been affected. This process normally requires approximately two days. A separate notification will be issued to the customer that are affected when the process has been completed. Below is the current schedule for Line Swabbing: Date Neighborhoods Streets Affected by Loss of Service (Precautionary Boil Water) Effective Sunday April 8, 2018 - St. Cloud Utilities will be temporarily shutting down the reclaim water distribution on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. to Monday nights at 10 p.m., when no watering is permitted by the City's irrigation schedule. This will help us conserve water and recharge the reservoir. This will remain in effect until the reservoir is recharged and consumption is consistently reduced. Additionally, the University of Florida Osceola County Extension's Florida Yards and Neighborhoods Program is available to assist with water conservation and questions about your irrigation system. Their phone number is 321-697-3000. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City of St. Cloud Environmental Utilities Department is currently flushing hydrants periodically through out the city to test the fire flow as well as to keep water moving and keep the water mains from stagnating. The City of St. Cloud Public Services Department will be in areas throughout the City in the upcoming months to upgrade water meter(s) due to the age of the device(s). The City has a ten (10) year replacement schedule for all water meters to ensure their accuracy and functionality. Installation is simple and only take a few minutes. Prior to a technician beginning work, they will knock on the door to notify the resident that they will be interrupting water service for approximately ten (10) to fifteen (15) minutes while the water meter is upgraded.
